ABOUT THE LEARNING INSTITUTE OF TEXAS

aboutartwork

LIT began as New Life Community Center providing English, Spanish and Computer Classes. LIT was birthed with a mission to help international students to improve their English fluency. The Intensive English Program is designed to prepare students to communicate both verbally and in written expression so that they may excel in their academic or professional pursuits in the United States and other global communities. This community center later was granted an Incorporation Charter by the State of Texas as The Learning Institute of Texas on April 26, 2001. It was later that same year on August 27th that it opened as LIT for classes.

On February 8, 2002 LIT was issued a 501 (c) 3 from the Internal Revenue Service and recognized as a nonprofit institution. The following month on March 1st, LIT began founding schools in *Quba, where it graduated its first 74 students of which 10 were commissioned to plant churches March 5, 2004. LIT was approved by the Texas Workforce as an exempt school on March 31, 2003.

Later that same year on May 14, 2003 the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (SEVIS) approved LIT to accept international (foreign) students from abroad by issuing I-20’s.

LIT on January 10, 2010 accomplished another milestone by founding another LIT school in Beijing, China and subsequently founded another school in Playa del Carmen (near the city of Cancun) in Mexico on March 1st of 2011.

LIT achieved yet it’s biggest milestone being accredited by CEA (The Commission on English Language Program Accreditation) on April 22, 2013 in accordance with new U.S. laws.

LIT is located in the fourth most populous city of Houston in the United States, where the environment is conducive to learning and experiencing cultural diversity. I believe you will enjoy your stay in our great city.

LIT is a non-profit corporation dedicated to providing quality, low-cost education to anyone in our community and beyond. The faculty and staff are well qualified to teach and care for the needs of students. I believe you will enjoy being a part of this exciting school and improve your English so that you may be successful in whatever goals you may pursue in your career.
